Hot Tips For Online Sales Shopping

Hot Tips For Online Sales ShoppingIf you want to get the best deals on your shopping, without stepping outside the door, there are some great savings you can make by doing it all online. Some hot tips to remember before you begin your shopping are:

Be aware of the timing of sales

It’s a good idea to think about the times of the year when you will get the best deals. At this time of the year, the prices tend to be hiked up as people are starting to do their Christmas shopping. However, if you wait until just after Christmas, between the 26th December and right the way through to January, you will see lots of sales starting. At this time, retailers will be aware of how well they’ve done over the festive period, and many will be frantically dropping their prices in order to raise their profits.

Make a List

Prior to beginning your sales shopping, you should always make a list of everything you are looking for. It can be too tempting to rush in head first and buy items which you don’t really need, and more often than not, you will end up forgetting about what you are actually shopping for. Work out your budget beforehand too, so you don’t end up over spending.

Look on comparison websites

Once you have decided on the items you need, it is sensible to compare the prices of different retailers. There are various price comparison websites, which will do all the work for you. All you have to do is enter the details of your shopping list, and it will let you know the best prices. There is nothing more frustration than buying something, and then realising that another retail outlet is charging half the price for it. Savvy sales shoppers will always ensure they get the best deal out there. Always keep in mind that most retailers are crying out for customers at the moment, so there is a lot of competition going on.

Use familiar retailers

One of the problems with shopping online is you have to wait (and hope) for your goods arriving on time, or at all. Nothing is guaranteed with online shopping, and usually it is quite safe, but it’s advisable to only use stores which you are familiar with. If you use stores you have shopped with before and trust, you’ll have more peace of mind that your shopping will arrive at the given time.

Look our for shopping vouchers

These days, there are loads of vouchers and coupons offering great deals and money off for selected stores. You can sign up to money saving sites, or simply do a Google search on ‘money off vouchers’ for your selected store(s.) When you get to the checkout, you will be asked for a code, and the discount will be applied to your total cost. Some retailers may not offer this on sales shopping, but it’s always worth a try.

Keep receipts

As you don’t have the opportunity to try on the goods when you online shop, it is essential that you hold on to your receipt, in case you need to return anything. Again, some stores may not allow you to return items you bought in the sale, but some will, so always hold onto these. This may be in the form of an email, or a confirmation order number you receive when you have completed your shop.

Why Go Garage Sale Shopping?

Why Go Garage Sale ShoppingYou ask, “Why should I go to Garage Sales and buy someone’s items they don’t want?”

I will tell you why I go. I go because I can find almost anything I want.

I buy all my baby gifts at Garage Sales. I just bought a gift for a baby girl. I bought 2 cute outfits, they were brand new with the tags still on them, and I also bought a few baby toys, and again they were new.

I have bought a lot of Christmas gifts. Everyone in my family has received gifts from me that I bought at Garage Sales. They would never know I bought them at a garage sale. I always make sure the items are new or in great condition.

When I buy a gift I buy most of them under $5.00. Here are a few of the gifts and items I have bought for myself…diamond earrings, diamond necklace, double oven, washer and dryer, name brand clothes, entertainment center, 3 desk, leather chair, lamps, name brand candles that have not been burned, gas logs, fiesta ware. I even buy most of my office supplies at Yard Sales.

All of these items where bought at a very low cost. My double ovens which were 4 years old I bought for $5.00. I still have them and they work great.

The diamond earrings cost me $20.00. They are gold hoop with diamonds on the inside and the outside of the hoop. New they cost around $200.00 or more.

I could go on and on telling you all the good deals I have gotten.

Garage Sale Shopping Business

You can make good part time or full time money from scouting out garage sale finds to get items for various purposes. First you might find a valuable treasure that only you could admire, and that is a find in itself. To find something you did not even plan on looking for, those are usually the best finds. It’s good to have several places where you can get rid of some of the stuff that you have now found.

Books are great for the Internet, sites like Half.com and Amazon.com sell really nicely, videos and DVDs sell very well there also. There are many thrift store type furniture stores that buy old desks and dressers to fix them up and resell them. There are always those nice finds when you get something for a few dollars you know will sell on eBay for ten times what you paid for it, sometimes. Keep an eye out for CD’s and rare albums, you can get a lot of money sometimes for the right collectors album, from record stores that like to buy stuff.

By far, the person that usually gets the best deal at a garage sale is the person who ends up buying the whole garage sale! These people can make a lot of money by taking everything there is, usually for a pretty cheap negotiated price, and the cheaper the better! The best way to liquidate everything fast is to take it to your local swap meet or flea market, and start selling early in the morning for the best prices you can get on your items. Then, towards the end of the day, have a $2 sell. You sell everything for $2. You can yell out as people walk by, over and over again, since there are usually new customers always walking by. People begin to buy more stuff because they the cheap prices. Then later, you yell out, everything for $1 each, then the more people will be buying and getting the items, after you sell a lot more items, you can have a.25 cent sale, this will get most of your items gone quickly, and you will have a lot of customers.

You need to talk loudly or yell just like a hawker on the sidewalk trying to sell their wares. After the rush is over, and you want to end the day, you have a free sale. Everything is for free, that will eliminate the entire load and what you paid for the original garage sale should of netted you a profit and you won’t have to take anything back with you and you will be done with that load.

Tips to Consider For Your Short Sale Shopping

A quick look at short sale might be so inviting but be careful before you even think of buying it. There are certain issues that you need to unravel regarding the condition of such property. Should you consider buying a short sold home, find out everything you can about the potential home. Here are some important considerations you need to know before looking at short sale. They might be of great value to you when you begin your shopping for such kind of house.

First, check if the price is reasonable enough or very low. You must be aware that what you see in the price tag is not actually the ceiling price. They only put that to invite more buyers because multiple offers give the seller the opportunity to select and come up with the best bid. So, be open with the possibility that you are not the only potential buyer for that property and the hard part is that it would be hard to make an offer because you have to compete with the other buyers who could give higher bids. So, the best option to do is check the house’s real market value and give an offer that is close to it.

Second, hire a real estate agent and be sure that he is someone who has the knowledge and experience in short sale. An expert on this issue could explain to you very well and comprehensively everything you need to know about homes that are on short sale. He could provide you advices and recommendations that could help you in making the transaction. Your role is to listen and be analytic in what he says.

Third, make the right offer by being competitive in your bid. You can do this by making a research about the seller and the amount of money he owes to his lenders. This will help you come up with a bid that would give interest to the lenders.

Fourth, it is important that you validate the requirements of the seller. Check if he has completed and submitted all pertinent documents such as tax returns, income records, and bank records; if not, talk to the listing agent and request him to inform the seller that the requirements are mandatory for the completion of the short sale process. Incomplete documents would delay the pace of your purchase of the property.

It is really enticing to see a potential new home which happens to be your dream home but the problem is it is a short sold home. It could be bothersome if you are not informed of the details about this kind of property. You already have bits of information about the essential things you have to consider and reflect on before going for a house on short sale. Keep in mind that it is better to know everything about this issue that you will be dealing with than to get into the transaction without any facts or ideas in your head. In this way, you avoid having headaches.

The Do’s and Don’t’s of Sales Shopping

If it seems too early to be thinking about the January sales, think again! In this bleak financial market, the sales will be starting much earlier this year as retailers try to tempt us to part with our money. So what is there to think about? How do you plan for the sales? If you usually wander around them aimlessly picking up a few ‘bargains’ here and there, things that you don’t really need and later regret buying, read on…

1. Avoid the shops that roll out rails and rails of clothes stock from previous seasons. If no-one wanted them in Winter ’07 or ’06, why would you want them now?

2. Avoid high fashion items that are on their way out. Instead look for good quality investment items that won’t date such as cashmere sweaters, leather jackets and wool coats. You’ll be able to wear them for seasons and seasons to come and will be proud that you got such a good bargain.

3. If you come across an item that you really love but can’t afford in this season’s collections, don’t despair. Keep an eye on the price tag throughout December to see if the price falls drastically. If not, find a helpful assistant and ask when the item will be going in the sales and what the price will be. Sales assistants often have this information and by asking them for it you can ensure that you turn up on the right day, at the right time and go away with something you really want.

4. Have a good look through the underwear section. A certain design or colour of bra might not have been the season’s best-seller but if it is the right size and does the job it doesn’t matter – most people will never see it! Often bras can be picked up for half price or lower in the January sales and although they may not end up being your favourite special occasion bras they’re ideal for everyday use.

5. If you’re a regular attendee of glitzy evening events, parties and balls, plan ahead and get your cocktail dresses in the sales. There is usually a good selection left over after Christmas and they won’t date too quickly.

6. As with all clothes shopping, make sure the items you buy really suit your colouring and show off your figure. If you’re not sure about the colours and styles that suit you best, book a colour analysis and style consultation before you hit the sales. The initial cost may seem expensive but in the long run they will save you money on costly mistakes. Alternatively, why not book a style consultant for some personal shopping. They will give you an honest opinion and won’t let you buy unflattering items just because they are cheap. Instead they will find you bargains that really bring out the best in you.

Make The Sales Work For You

When the banners go up for a sale at one of your favourite stores, it is very easy to be drawn in to thinking that you are going to make a killing and get a whole new wardrobe at a fraction of the price. Yet when you come to it and actually try to find yourself a bargain that you are actually going to want to wear, it’s not so easy. But there are ways to make sure that you get want you want, at the price you want to pay.

There are a number of reasons why stores have special promotions. They can be used to quickly move last seasons stocks in time for the new seasons lines or they can be used to encourage you to visit the store so that while you are there you will continue to browse and buy further items that are not on sale. Or they can simply promote the name of one retailer over another to get more brand awareness. Whatever the reason for the sale, if there is an item you want and the sale is on then it can be increasingly frustrating when you can’t find what you are looking for or they don’t have your size.

When you visit even the best retailers during a sale the stock becomes mixed up and the stores can become so busy that when you do get to a rail, trying to find what you are looking for is simply madness. Shop assistants are so busy they do not have time to help, and when they do have the time, the stock is usually so confused that they can’t find what you are looking for either. With massive clearance sales you may even find that non sale stock has been taken off the shop floor to make way for the sale, limiting your choice even further. You can find yourselves spending hours in a store to finally find the thing you want and then having to queue for what seems like the rest of the day to make your savings.

The question is “Is It Worth It?” and I would say the answer has to be no!

If you want a relaxed shopping experience during a sale and want to see quickly and easily what a certain store has in your size and what options you have, then the simple solution is to shop online. With more stores promoting their online sales before they start and with an increasing number of stores starting their online sales a day or even two days before the sale in the store, the online shopping experience is the only way to go to make sure you get what you want at the price you want to pay.

Historically people have avoided clothes shopping online as it is impossible to try before you buy and returning goods has always been seen as difficult. But as more stores close their changing rooms during the sales and even more stores are taking their changing rooms away altogether, returning items, especially online, has become a very simple process, with a lot of the stock being picked up from your door free of charge. By sale shopping online you can also get to the store a lot earlier. Who wants to be queuing for hours in a high street for a store to open at 5am when you can set your alarm for a few minutes before hand and get all your bargains whilst drinking a cup of coffee in a warm, relaxed and friendly environment. There is no pushing and shoving to get to the rail first and it is quick and easy to find out whether they have an item in your size.

How to Save Money at Garage Sales

Garage Sales are a great place to find bargains. From expensive china to scuba gear, you can find everything, and anything you want, at a garage sale. Here are some strategies to maximize your shopping experience and help you get the most for your time and money.

First, know in advance what you are shopping for. When you shop for clothing, have a list of exactly which clothing items each family member needs along with their measurements. Carry a soft tape measure with you. Since items can’t be returned from a garage sale, you don’t want to make any mistakes. When shopping for an item for your home, bring an small sample of the color you are looking for. Out in the bright sun, colors may appear differently so having a color swatch helps.

Equally important to knowing what you’re looking for, is knowing how much you want to spend. Before you go garage sale shopping, know the retail price of each item you are looking for. This information makes it easier to spot a deal. Since it’s so easy to get caught up in the buying spirit, have a dollar amount in mind for what you are willing to pay for each item used. There’s nothing worse than getting home and realizing that you paid more than you wanted to.

At each garage sale, if you don’t see what you are looking for, don’t be afraid to ask. Last month I went in search of a girls 24 inch bike. I inquired at each sale, and at the fourth sale, the lady wheeled out a beautiful Huffy bike from her garage that she wanted to sell, but forgot to set out. It was in great shape and at a great price, but I know if it had been out when the sale started, it would have been gone by the time I arrived.

Go early, or late to sales. This strategy is an easy one. The first ones to a sale get first crack at the good stuff. By attending later, sellers may be more willing to negotiate on price. You will encounter sellers who practically give stuff away just to get rid of it. Make sure you are prepared to shop. By that I mean, know where the garage sales are in advance, so you can plan the best route to take. Bring drinks and snacks, especially if you are taking the kids with you. Have singles and loose change easily accessible so you can buy quickly and move to the next sale. Be sure and wear comfortable clothing, especially shoes.

Here in Florida, entire communities hold their garage sales on the same day. Look for areas in your town that may do the same. Many sales close together helps you maximize your time, and gives you a better chance of finding what you are looking for. I have found everything I could ever hope to find at garage sales. Some of my best treasures include an English riding helmet for my daughter, the first handheld Nintendo video game (now a collectors item), and a set of china for 8 that retails for over $500 (of course I paid significantly less). Now that you know these tips and tricks, you can reel in some great deals too. Happy Hunting!

A Guide to Make the Most From Online Sales

The internet offers many excellent shopping opportunities today. Whereas online shopping used to be offered by only a few stores, today almost all the major stores offer online shopping. There are also some stores that only offer their products online. The internet provides options to save a lot of money, especially when you locate the correct stores and the right sales.

Shopping online for the sales is fun, easy and offers the convenience of never having to leave the comfort of your home. Increasingly more people are turning towards online shopping as a way to find great gifts and find amazing bargains from the luxury of their home. Here are some valuable guidelines on shopping online for the sales.

* Find out about the security of the site where you intend to do your shopping. While the majority of online shopping sites are safe, there are others that are not and it’s beneficial to know the difference. You will always want to buy from a site that is able to maintain confidentiality of your private details. One main way of ensuring the site is secure is if the address has “https” rather than just “http”. The “s” is your guarantee that the site is secure. A locked padlock or icon of a unbroken key in the status bar or at the bottom of the screen are also clues that the site is secure

* Use your credit card for online shopping if possible. Credit cards remain the most secure method for online shopping and come in handy when there is a dispute or an unauthorized purchase.

* Try to do a background check on the seller. While many of the online shopping sites are legitimate stores and sites, many sites are new and unknown to you. It’s a good idea to find a bit more about the seller before you hand them your personal financial information.

* Shop around for the best buys. While ease and simplicity may be the main reason you’re shopping online for the sales, you should still shop around for the best buys. Use the search engines to find the best deals for any item. For example, if you’re planning to buy “Malibu Barbie”, type that into a search engine and you’ll be surprised at how many online stores you’ll find that sell this item. Some of the sites may even tell you if they’re offering sale prices on the item.

* Beware of high shipping costs. You can very easily eliminate any saving you may have found if you have to pay high shipping costs. Always compare the shipping costs along with the cost of the product to get the best bargain. While some sites charge substantially for shipping, others give a discount or even offer free shipping if you spend a certain amount of money there. However, do NOT purchase items you don’t need just to get the free shipping or you’re not saving at all.

* Try to avoid taxes when buying online. According to the laws, an online site or store can only charge you taxes if they’re located in the same state as you. Consider shopping at an online chain store that offers a store in other states. By saving on the taxes you can make substantial savings on the total amount you pay.

* Think about doing your shopping at the auction sites. There are several reputable online auction sites. eBay is the most well-known and widely used online auction site and offers almost anything you could possibly want. The site also provides you the ability to check on the history and feedback for sellers. You can find some great products on eBay and other auction sites as well. It’s a good idea to look at the shipping costs here as well. Some sellers are known to charge high shipping costs to make profit on their products.

How to Find Yard Sales on Craigslist

Are you a deal seeker? Some of the best deals are found at yard sales. If you are new to yard sale shopping, you may be unsure how to find information on local sales. Although many garage sale hosts advertise in local newspaper classifieds, this costs money. On the other hand, it is free to post a yard sale listing on Craigslist.org. That is why more people are doing it.

How can you use Craigslist to learn about local sales? There are two steps you can take. One involves searching and the other involves browsing.

Whether you search or browse yard sale postings, you must visit the Craigslist.org website. Then, select your state and city. If you wish to search, make your way to the search box on the left-hand side of the page. Search with the phrases “yard sales” or “garage sales.” If you wish to browse, look at the headings on your city page. Under the for sale category, you will see a section for garage sales.

By implementing the above mentioned steps, you will receive a list of area yard sales. Since Craigslist is city based, but only uses a limited number of cities, you will get lots of information on area yard sales. However, some may not be so local. Weed out these. Luckily this is easy. Most yard garage sale hosts will state their city or town name in their headline. You can see right away which yard sales are within a reasonable driving distance. Grab a pen and paper to take notes. Write down the date, time, and location of each yard sale you are interested in visiting. You can later use this as a guide to map out your route.

In addition to using Craigslist to find local yard sales, you can also use the website to shop. Sellers have a wide range of items listed for sale, including clothes, toys, movies, books, home decor, exercise equipment, cars, and more. Using the same steps above, you can browse or search these listings. Many bargain shoppers find the service to be a nice alternative to yard sales. To buy on Craigslist with ease, download the free Craigslist Reader to perform multi-city searches. Find the best deals in all nearby areas in minutes!

Beautiful Savings – Guide to Surviving Sample Sales

I’m sure everyone is familiar with this feeling: you’ve been eyeing the most gorgeous pair of Tory Burch heels, with its gorgeous silhouette and sleek style. But alas, your heart skips a beat when you look at the price, as you replace them on the shelf and silently affirm “One day… I’ll save enough to have it.” Well, thanks to the numerous sample sales in New York City’s fashion district, “One day” may be much sooner than you think! The one thing that shopaholics (such as myself!) like better than shopping are bargains! And bargains are always beautiful! Here are some tips on scoring heart-stopping deals with prices that won’t give you a heart attack.

Research, Research, Research!

The wealth of information available on the internet is amazing! Websites such as Topbutton and DailyCandy post information on sample sales in various cities.

Got some extra time during the day? Prominent shopping areas, such as New York City’s garment district may have people advertising sample sales for specific showrooms. Take a stroll in these areas and be on the lookout for someone handing out fliers to such sales. Once you’re at the sale, place yourself on their contact list so you can be notified of future sales. Some showrooms may not be so public about their sales. Well-known designers, such as Prada, have sales twice a year, so if you know someone who’s in the loop and has info to a certain showroom, try calling calling in favors and ask when the next sample sale will occur.

Go with a Plan!

Plan on arriving 30 minutes to 1 hour before the sale, particularly for sought-after brands. Anticipate long lines for entry, try-ons, and purchases. Be patient! Usually the first day of a sample sale has the best selection due to the highest number of inventory. If day one is a no-go on your schedule, call ahead of time and ask if additional items will be put out or prices cut later in the week.

Always have cash on hand- some sales may not accept credit cards or personal checks. On the plus side, some sales will may fore-go tax if you pay in cash.

Wear leggings and a tank top or sports bra under your clothes. This allows you to easily try clothes on, especially if private dressing rooms are unavailable.

Never wear a brand to its own sale. It could get lost amongst the other merchandise.

Shopping buddies are great to have- they give their honest opinions on what does and doesn’t look flattering.

Survey the land.

If the atmosphere is relaxed, you can take your time and peruse the aisles and racks so you can decide what to buy. But in the event that chaos is present, it’s always effective to grab and go! Select items in your size range that look appealing to try on, avoiding anything that’s stained, torn, or needs a lot of tailoring. Having a friend sample sale shop also helps, especially when it comes to the long try-on and check-out lines.

Mind your manners.

Sample sales can get overcrowded, and the more bodies under one roof, the more colorful the personalities. While there are those that can get aggressive, and sometime downright rude, I personally feel no item is worth fighting over. If someone is blocking a rack or dominating a mirror, politely ask her to move for just a second. Remember, when it comes down to it, it’s just stuff; there’s more to life than having everything.

Shop Smart

Look for unique pieces that you can’t normally get from the local department stores. The best deals at sample sales are bags, dresses, outerwear, and shoes. Prices on these items are usually below wholesale price. Always try to ask for a better price, especially if you are buying a lot of items. If you are buying $400 worth of merchandise, see if you can get it for $350. The people at the register know that people are here for a deal, and they want to get out as much inventory as they can.

There are more than just sample sales.

Shopping, samples, and cocktails- need I say more? Companies such as Shecky’s Media and Style Fixx hold events at popular venues that are more like happy hour with girlfriends than shopping. These events have local designers and beauty companies that showcase their newest products, all at 30-75% off retail. They also offer “goodie bags” filled with product samples for you to try. Sign up for the next Shecky’s event here.

The internet’s popularity has also allowed for online sample sales that offer discount for designer items. Sites such as RueLala and Ideeli require membership to shop online.
